I was co-director
on Pumpboys, but this was pretty much Sheree's baby. My job was to oversee tech (which was by
and large unnecessary, thanks to the presence of Matt Stefankowicz),
be a kind of 'safety net' (Sheree had never directed, so I was on hand to
help when experience was necessary, i.e. seldom) ,
toss in some ideas and observations, and, it turned out after she was cast,
be her eyes from the audience and give notes. The combination
of talent and dedication these great performers displayed guaranteed that
this show could not fail, and it certainly did not. It was one of the best
shows I've had the privilege to be associated with, thanks to Sheree's relentless dedication, Matt's steady behind the
scenes presence, and a cast as talented as any I've ever seen in a volunteer
production. This was absolutely one of the high points of my Community
Theater experience, not just because the show was outstanding, but because
the people- Sheree, Teri, Darren, Chris, Buddy, Matt, Doug, & Jeff, were
even more so. |
